Are there any pre-requisites for doing a Test and Tag Course?
There are no prerequisites required to undertake our test and tag course. Likewise, you don’t need to have any kind of electrical background or qualifications, as our course will teach you everything you need to know, starting from the basics. The majority of our students actually have no electrical background at all.
How does the Online Test and Tag Course work?
Our Online Test & Tag Course contains exactly the same content as our face-to-face Test & Tag Course - it's just simply been adapted to work with our online learning platform. We will teach you how to properly test and tag according to Australian Standards AS/NZS 3760, and successful students will be considered a 'Competent Person' and issued a certificate.
You'll be able to access all of the content via our state-of-the-art online learning modules, and the assessment will take place in our virtual classroom led by one of our experienced test and tag trainers.
How is the Nationally Recognised course different to the Short course?
Both the Nationally Recognised and Short Courses are delivered in a face-to-face training session over 1 day. However, the major difference between them is that the Nationally Recognised Course has an additional self-paced OHS (Occupational Health and Safety) online component and is thereby considered a higher qualification.
The course you decide on will largely depend on your particular needs. To choose the course that fits your needs the best, simply go to Choosing the Right Course.
How long does the Face-To-Face Course go for?
The traditional course consists of one day of face-to-face training, starting at 8:00 a.m. and finishing at approximately 4:30 p.m.
If you’re planning on doing the Nationally Recognised course, it’ll consist of an additional self-paced OHS online component, which is to be completed in
your own time before the course.
How is the Face-To-Face Course structured?
The morning session will predominately focus on the theory required to test and tag, while the afternoon consists of practical hands-on training. All of our classes are kept to a maximum of 12 people so that everyone in the room can get individual time and support from our trainer.
Upon completing the course, you should be completely comfortable with testing and tagging on your own.
How long does the Online Course go for?
The Online Course is more self-paced when compared to traditional classroom training, but we find that the majority of our students require approximately 6-7 hours to complete the course.
The theory part of the training is self-paced, and we find that most students allocate about 3-4 hours for this.
The practical session is more structured as it is led by our instructor and will take 3.5 hours.
How is the Online Course structured?
The Online Course is split into two parts, theory and practical, similar to the face-to-face training. Initially, we will send you login details to access our online learning platform. This is where you will complete the theory learning part of the course - this is made up of multiple-choice questions and interactive quizzes.
Next is the practical training session. We will send you a link to join our virtual classroom, where our expert trainer will guide you via video. They will instruct you on how to operate a PAT tester and ask you to perform a variety of tests and record results.
Who will be the instructor on the day?
We have a number of different trainers, all of which are test and tag industry professionals with many years of experience, along with having a minimum Cert IV in Training and Assessment. In addition, they’re all very friendly and approachable and make the training an enjoyable experience.
Whatever your reason for doing the course is, we guarantee our trainers will give you all the knowledge and skills required to successfully test and tag.
Is there an age requirement for participants in the course?
No, there is no age requirement to take our test and tag training course.
Can I choose a date and location for the Face-To-Face Course?

The certificate you receive depends on the type of course you complete.
