February 2025 is done and dusted, and it’s been a big month in test and tag - from industry updates to important rule changes that could affect how you work. If you’re in the business of staying compliant, avoiding costly mistakes, and keeping worksites safe, you’ll want to be across these updates.
From PAT Tester calibration requirements to the upcoming green tag change and some big news for students, here’s what’s happening in the world of test and tag this month.
AS/NZS 3760 Standard Changes: What You Might Have Missed

Since the 2022 update to AS/NZS 3760, we’ve seen some major changes in how test and tag is done. One of the biggest (and often overlooked) changes relates to PAT Tester calibrations and how the wording has changed.
Here’s what’s different now:
- Verification must be done using a calibrated source
- It must follow the timeframe set by the manufacturer
This means calibrating your PAT Tester is no longer just a recommendation or a suggestion - it’s a requirement. Why does it matter? A failing PAT Tester might pass appliances that should have failed, which can mean serious safety risks. Regular calibration ensures your tester is detecting faults correctly.
This is just one of the key updates from the 2022 Standard changes. If you haven’t caught up yet, we’ve broken down everything you need to know about the AS/NZS3760 2022 changes.
March Test Tag Change: Green Tags Incoming
Summer's wrapped up fast, and as we roll into March, it's time to swap out those yellow test tags for green ones. If you're working in construction, mining or demolition, it's time to swap to green test tags for autumn testing intervals.
- Green tags will cover compliance from March to May
- High-risk environments must do this to remain compliant
- Everyone involved in the test and tag process must be aware of the change
Stock up now before you get caught out. Order your green test tags so you're not scrambling when March hits!
We're Now Issuing Digital Test & Tag Certificates
Big news for students and employers! We've officially switched to secure digital credentials to ensure your test and tag qualifications are safer, easier and faster to verify.
No more waiting for certificates in the mail or losing paperwork in the ute. These digital certificates are 100% tamper-proof and always in your pocket - ready to show clients or job sites on the spot.
These test and tag certificates are instantly accessible through your digital wallet and are very easy to share with employers and clients. Unlike standard PDF’s, they can’t be copied or altered. So if you're a student needing proof of certification or an employer verifying a test and tag certificate, this change will ensure compliance without any guessing.
Why this matters:
- Employers can trust that these certificates can't be altered, faked or tampered with
- Easily scan a QR code when on-site to confirm it's legitimate
- Can be added to your digital wallet (works with Apple and Android) for easy access

This change is already in effect, and past students can request a digital version of their certificate via our Digital Certificates page.
Finally - no more lost certificates, no more waiting. Just instant, 100% secure proof whenever you need it.
Seaward Hardware Update
If you’re using a Seaward Primetest Pro or Primetest Elite, here’s something you need to know if you're in the market for a new one.
Last year, Seaward changed the hardware in these testers, and it’s had a knock-on effect for older printers.
- Older printers such as Zebra P4T, QL420 Optima Printers are not compatible with newer models
- If you're buying a new Primetest appliance tester, you'll need a new printer too
Not everyone has caught onto this yet, so if you're planning to upgrade your PAT Tester, make sure you're not stuck with an incompatible printer.

Product Recall: Faulty Powerboards Sold at Bunnings
If you've recently purchased a PB36-L or PB34UPD Powerboard from Bunnings, take note - these have been officially recalled due to safety risks. The powerboards may overheat, posing a potential fire hazard.
If you come across any of these while testing and tagging - make sure it's taken out of service immediately. If you own the powerboard, they can be returned to Bunnings for a full refund. See the full Product Safety Notice.
Remember, staying informed on product recalls is just as important as following the right test and tag procedures.
